ADVICE

Here you will find some practical tips for the big day, which can help you to optimize your wedding day and obtain the best possible images.

So here you will find advice and ideas, which are only my own. Your wedding day belongs to you and must resemble you 100%. These tips are not there to give you instructions to follow to the letter, but they are practical tips that could optimize the day, the working comfort for the videographer, and therefore the final rendering of the film.

Before you start, this wedding day is your day, think of yourself first!
During the day, I will try to be as discreet as possible, in order to best capture the atmosphere, the details that will make this day unique.
I rarely pose the couples and I try to capture the real moments!

1. PREPARATIONS

NATURAL LIGHT

Whether at the reception venue, a hotel room, or at home, remember to choose the room in which you are getting ready. Think of a room that is bright enough, avoid artificial lights, move closer to the windows and opt for sobriety: Less is more :) . Also take care to tidy up the spaces that will be visited. This will avoid finding an iron, open suitcases with a pile of clothes lying here and there in your wedding photos.

BE ZEN

Above all, take your time on that day! Plan all the timings well: we are not immune to the unexpected: but delegate! That day you do nothing!

BE WELL SURROUNDED

Remember to surround yourself with your loved ones / witnesses on that day: the preparations are not a time of stress, but a time of sharing with your loved ones. Limit the number of people present during the preparations: and invite your loved ones to join you for the dressing instead. Avoid having everyone get ready in the same room: open suitcases, clothes laid out all over the room, etc. This will not help to create good images: tell your friends and witnesses to join you once they are dressed! Consider toasting together with a bottle of champagne (or several...), consider putting on background music that will help you not to focus on the ceremony. In short, have fun during your preparations!

CHOOSE A PRETTY OUTFIT

This may seem like a detail, but a pretty outfit (bathrobe, etc.) during the preparations makes a difference in the images: this outfit will allow you to be relaxed, and to have pretty images during the make-up and hair.

WRITE YOUR WISHES

Take some time, in peace, alone or with someone, to write your wishes: this can be a nice intimate moment to film.

TIDY UP / CLEAN UP

Think about getting ready in a tidy room: no more suitcases, piles of clothes and other items that would spoil the background of the images.

THESE DETAILS THAT MAKE THE DIFFERENCE

The preparations are also the moment when the videographer will film a few details. Think about grouping and highlighting your accessories: dress, suit, shoes, stationery, flower crowns. What could be prettier than a beautiful dress highlighted in the place with its pretty hanger?

2. PREPARE YOUR CEREMONY WELL

THE IMPORTANCE OF THE BACKGROUND

Don't forget to ask yourself what will be behind you in the images, and to think about your decor accordingly. If you are lucky enough to get married in a place with a very beautiful view, maybe it will be more than enough to create the decor of your ceremony, and will ultimately need very little to be sublimated. Avoid speakers as much as possible to diffuse the sound near you. Simplicity above all else!

Also not to be neglected: for outdoor ceremonies mainly: the microphone and speakers. It goes without saying that you want to be heard, and if your ceremony requires a microphone, think about a wireless microphone. Once again, for aesthetic reasons, nothing is more unsightly than seeing a wire trailing on the images during the ceremony. Ask the person who is in charge of the ceremony or your DJ, they will be able to advise you. Same remark for the microphone stand, the speakers too visible: all this risks spoiling the shots, if they are poorly integrated.

AND THERE WAS LIGHT

As for everything else, the choice of time, will influence the light present during the ceremony, and therefore on the images. Favor a slightly later time for a softer light, avoid as much as possible finding yourself in full sun without shade: squinting eyes, unbearable heat ... many inconveniences can appear. This will also prevent your guests from fleeing the places in the sun for more shaded places. many inconveniences can appear. If for reasons of timing you have to carry out the ceremony earlier: think of a shaded place!

A CEREMONY WITHOUT SMARTPHONE

Do not hesitate to ask your guests to turn off their mobile phones during the ceremony, or at least the entrance of the bride and groom: let them enjoy you and the moment !! Everything will be captured by a professional videographer: and they will have access to the gallery! You can pass the message on through the officiant. To push the envelope a little further :) you can also think of an “UNPLUGGED” ceremony and ask guests to leave their smartphones at the entrance of the ceremony in a place provided for it.

THE ENTRANCE

As said above: limit as much as possible the use of cameras among guests. They often spoil the moment: encourage them with a message before the ceremony to put away their phones, and remind them that a professional videographer is in charge of the images :) . Remember to take your time! Space out the entrances, so that I can have each person, rather than a bride or groom hidden by witnesses who have gone before. This advice also applies to the exit.

THE EXIT

Be creative, and brief the guests well to give you a warm welcome, by creating a narrow path where you can slip through and exit in style in the middle of confetti or other: guaranteed image! (for confetti: confetti cannons give an effect of abundance that looks great on images).

3. THE COUPLE SESSION

SOFT LIGHT

The best time to do the couple session during your wedding is at sunset. The light will be softer, warmer and will allow you to play with it. So don't hesitate to slip away during the cocktail: because after the hour it's no longer the hour.

As for timing, I generally ask for at least 15 - 30 minutes for the session.

If you have to organize the session more spot during the day for timing reasons: you will then have to favor shaded places, but we keep 15 minutes for the sunset :D

FUN

Don't see it as something solemn and posed: it is above all a moment where you find yourself, and enjoy each other, far from the excitement of the wedding, before leaving again for the evening! So remember to think carefully about this timing with your videographer. If you want to spice up the session with accessories: go for it! Masks, smoke bombs: let your imagination run wild!

4. THE EVENING

LIGHT FOR DINNER

Think about lighting your dinner. Eating in a subdued lighting atmosphere is pleasant, but think about having enough light for the shots. Candles, guinguette lamps, light curtains: there are different ways to achieve a great result! For the dancefloor: favor white lights.

LIGHT ON THE DANCEFLOOR

You probably chose your DJ for his musical qualities, so that he makes you move until the early hours: and you are right! But remember that your DJ is also the one who lights up your evening: lighting effects, liras for the atmosphere: he can really change the atmosphere of the evening. This is necessarily important in video, in order to be able to play with the lights and the movement.

ACCESSORIES?

You can also think of accessories, masks, hats or others, colored tubes: madness guaranteed!
